This was Bob's fifth year as a judge (in fact, anchor judge this year) at the Indy Competition.

Each year, as a service to our customers, we accept their entries of wines and entry forms at our store for three weeks before the entry deadline for the INDY INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION.  We then hand deliver the entries to Jill Blume, Executive Director, at Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana.  This saves our customers the cost of a wine bottle shipping container, the cost of UPS shipping, the possibility of breakage and also the possibility of COOKING their prize winning wines in the BROWN truck in the middle of June.
Also, as a service to our customers, we provide proof of purchase and proof of awards won to WINEXPERT, INC.  In turn, WINEXPERT, INC., rewards our winners with a free wine kit of the same selection that they won the award with.
Below is a partial list of our winners, what they won, and what kit they recieved from WINEXPERT INC., through RED BARN WINEMAKER SUPPLIES.

Judges scores are posted and then averaged.

Discussion of judges and posting of scores.

There are five judges on each panel.  After tasting and filling out the score sheets, the judges post their scores on the blackboard for that flight of wines.  Anchor judges will ask for discussion on the findings and might even call for a re-pour if one judge's score is much different than the others.  Then the scores are averaged and a final decision made as to Double Gold, Gold, Silver, Bronze or NM  (no medal).  Double Gold is when all five judges unanimously vote that entry as Gold.  (These are few and far between.)  Double Gold entries are entered for Best of Show.
